Hungary Sights and Museums



Budapest:
Budapest History Museum, Also known as the Castle Museum (Vár Múzeum), traces the 2000 years of the city on three floors of jumbled exhibits.
Cave Chapel: on a small hill directly north of the landmark Gellért hotel, was built into a cave in 1926.
Gellért Bath: The city's most famous thermal spa is the Gellért Baths below Gellért Hill. Soaking in this Art Nouveau palace has been likened to taking a bath in a cathedral.
Hungarian National Gallery: The Hungarian National Gallery is an overwhelmingly large collection that traces the development of Hungarian art from the 10th century to the present day.
Hungarian State Opera House: It was designed by Miklós Ybl in 1884. You can choose between to enjoy the Opera or just a guided tour that includes a brief musical performance.

Ludwig Museum of Contemporany Art: This museum has the only one collecting and exhibiting international contemporany Art in Hungary. There are collections from America, Russia, Germany, France and more of East Europe.

Eger:
Eger Castle: This castle dated from the 13th century after the Mongol Invasion. If you climb up from Dózsa György tér to Eger Castle you could enjoy one of the best view of the city.
Lyceum: That dating from 1765. The 20,000-volume library, on the 1st floor of the south wing, contains hundreds of priceless manuscripts and codices.
There is an Astronomy Museum on the 6th floor of the east wing. You can also clima three more floors up to the observation deck and you get a great view of the city and also to try out the camera obscura, designed in 1776.
Minorite Church: It was built in 1771. That is one of the most glourius baroque buildings in Europe.

Hungary Entertainment


Budapest Spring Festival: In March, a two-week cultural extravaganza of local and internacional performances, conferences and exhibitions.

Budapest Film Festival: In February, Film festival to premiere new Hungarian films.

Busójárás: It is an annual Carnival celebration of the Šokci (Croatians) living in the town of Mohács, in Hungary in February. Traditions include folk music, masquerading, parades and dancing. Busójárás lasts six days, usually during February.

Sopron Festival Weeks: In June/July, showcasing ancient music and dance performances.

Debrecen Jazz Days: In September, it is Hungary’s top jazz festival.

Budapesti Búcsú: In June, it’s rock and pop festival held at several open-air venues around Budapest and celebrates the last Russian soldiers’ departure from Hungary in 1991.

Hungary Transports



How to get there by air: Malév Hungarian Airlines is the nacional carrier, flies direct to Budapest from USA and more than 30 European countries.
By rail: Hungary is conected to all of seven neigbouring countries by rail. It has also rail Express services that runs as far as London, Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Istanbul and Rome.
By road: Hungary is conected to all of seven neigbouring countries by road.
By see: It has Mediterranean services to/ from Cairo, Lárnaca and Tel Aviv.

Hungary has an efficient public transport. For buses there are Yellow bus between neighbouring cities and towns, around Volán. Also has a Yellow and red for long distances to far smaller communities.
MÁV is for rail services short distances and metropolitan trains. There are also a number of narrow gauge trains, that operates by United Forest Railways just for wooded and hilly areas.
Ferries services operate on Lake Batalon, the Danube between Budapest and Esztergom, and the Tisza River. For pleasure trips is better choose spring and summer time.
